Functional testing

While recommending healthy food and lifestyle choices may be sufficient for many individuals, some clients might need further investigation and testing to asses how specific organs or systems are functioning, at a cellular level.

Functional testing enables the creation of a more complete picture of your health and helps identify the underlying factors that are contributing to your symptoms, which I can then address through specific nutritional protocols to allow for more rapid and cost-effective results.

This is a non-exhaustive list of the functional tests I use regularly with my clients.

Adrenal Stress Profile

This test is non-invasive and uses several salivary samples throughout the day to identify any imbalances in stress hormones such as cortisol, which may affect energy levels and mood as well as contribute to many other conditions including anxiety, inflammation, menstrual problems, infertility and recurrent infections.

GI Effects - Stool analysis

This is a very useful test to do if you suffer from on-going digestive symptoms, such as bloating, cramps, bowel urgencies, constipation and diarrhoea but also chronic fatigue. It helps to evaluate digestion of food, the composition and diversity of gut bacteria, the presence of pathogenic bacteria or parasite and inflammation and metabolic markers.

Organic Acids Test

The Organic Acids Test offers a metabolic snapshot of your overall health with over 70 markers. It provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria,  neurotransmitters, vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress. It is great for anyone who has had ongoing health complaints and cannot seem to find the cause. But also clients who have extreme fatigue, low immune function, neurological disorders and chronic conditions.

Dutch Complete

The DUTCH Complete is an advanced comprehensive hormone test that includes melatonin and neurotransmitters. It measures an extensive profile of sex hormones (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone...) and "stress hormones" and their metabolites, as well as markers for melatonin, oxidative stress, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, glutathione, dopamine, norepinephrine/epinephrine or noradrenalin/ adrenalin, and serotonin. It is a very comprehensive test that is great for anyone who suffers from hormonal imbalances (infertility, PCOS, PMS, endometriosis...) but also fatigue, headaches and insomnia.
